Events
A new facility, the Springbank Community Event Centre, has been proposed to meet the growing need for a central hub where people can come to connect, celebrate and grow together. The new community centre will host a wide range of activities and events—from musical and theatre performances to large meetings, group programs, exercise classes, craft sales, weddings and celebrations. Designed to bring people together, it will foster a strong sense of belonging and community connection—all set against the stunning backdrop of the Rocky Mountains.
This centre will be centrally located on a 70 + acre site between Range Road 33, Huggard Road and Springbank Road, making it easily accessible to residents throughout Springbank. To date geophysical studies, life cycle cost analysis and stakeholder engagement has either been completed or underway. Once built, it can become self-sustaining through the development of diverse revenue sources, strong community partnerships and active volunteer support.
An opening date will depend on funding grants, budget approvals, and public engagement over the coming years. Rocky View County has approved a Recreation and Parks Master Plan (2021-40) to guide the delivery of recreation for residents. A Business Case (2023) for the facility has been approved. This marks an important step forward in creating a new gathering place for our community to connect, celebrate, and grow together. Next steps include providing a capital budget to council, hiring an architect and public engagement on the design and functionality of the event centre spaces.
The Event Centre is a three-stage plan to develop new recreational amenities in South Springbank.
PHASE 1
Focuses on building the Community Event Centre, featuring a 200-seat banquet hall, a studio space, and two multipurpose rooms (1–5 years).
PHASE 2
Would introduce an indoor turf facility, multi-use courts, a walking and running track, and outdoor sports areas (5–10 years).
PHASE 3
Will complete the vision with green spaces, parks, and pathways designed for outdoor events, performances, festivals, and areas that support passive recreation (10–15 years).
